For some of our clients, they come to us with a very basic skincare regimen. They are noticing the visible signs of aging, fine lines/wrinkles and dull skin. Getting away with only applying moisturizer and cleanser is just not cutting it anymore. 

Enter facial serums! 🎉 For many clients this is a new step, so let's break it down.

What is a facial serum?

A facial product designed to treat and target a specific skin concern. Other names you may see it called could be: complex, concentrate, ampoule.

They are NOT moisturizers, although they may be moisturizing. Facial serums are designed to treat the skin at a deeper layer than a moisturizer which is designed to sit on top and seal/protect. 

Common Serums Ingredients:

• Hyaluronic Acid
• Vitamin C
• Niacinamide

Serums are designed to treat certain skin concerns and conditions such as, dull skin, dehydration, hyperpigmentation, acne breakouts.

Once you have decided what concerns you would like to treat, you can pick the right serum for you. Many serums tackle more than one concern!

Application

This is the most common question: when and in what order do we use a serum?

MOST serums will be applied on damp skin, like after a spray toner, and BEFORE the moisturizer/facial oil. Based on what type of serum you are using, the directions on the bottle determines if you use it A.M or P.M. (or both day and night).
