3 Amazing Antioxidants to Use for Skin Health!
Why I love them
Using antioxidants in skin care is very popular for many reasons. Applying a topical product with antioxidants such as Vitamin C, on your skin regularly can make a huge difference. One of the reasons we add them into skin care products is to help protect the skin from the environment or free radical damage. Factors such as sun exposure, pollution or even stress can cause free radicals to damage healthy skin cells. This may lead fine lines, pigmentation and skin cancer. Using an antioxidant rich skin care regimen can also help correct uneven and dull skin.
My Favorite Ingredients for Antioxidant Protection:
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is amazing has many different benefits for increasing skin health. It can help with firming, brightening and lightening skin pigmentation and protecting the skin from free radicals as we talked about above.
White Tea Extract
Because of the high content of polyphenols (micronutrients high in antioxidant value) in white tea, it is a powerful protector of free radicals. I like to use this even more than green tea extract.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is high in many vitamins which are antioxidants including A, C and E. It also contains folic acid which naturally posses the power to help protect skin cells as well.
Inside OUT
We can also reap the benefits from ingredients high in antioxidants when we eat them! Taking supplements and also just eating foods that are high in antioxidants, helps protect you from the inside out. Making a cup of white tea, eating tomato sauce which is high in lycopene and amazing for sun protection and even just eating fruit can all contribute to protecting your skin cells and promoting healthy skin. When making white tea adding lemon makes it a more potent antioxidant.
Antioxidants are powerful in the ability to protect the skin which is why I highly recommend making them part of a daily regimen. The reason I like the three I listed above is because they are also highly anti-inflammatory making them a great option for sensitive skin types. Some forms of Vitamin C can be irritating but there are ways to get an amazing result without the irritation (I will be talking more about Vitamin C and the form I prefer in an upcoming blog). Personally, my skin feels firmer and more even when I use products high in antioxidants. This coupled with a great sun protection is a great way to keep your skin looking its best.
